About This Course
This course introduces students to the basics of film analysis, cinematic formal elements, genre, and narrative structure and helps students develop the skills to recognize, analyze, describe and enjoy film as an art and entertainment form. Students will learn a wide range of elementary film production techniques and build a technical and aesthetic foundation structured around film grammar, story development, script writing, sound, and editing. Through practical exercises and guided projects, students will gain an understanding of shot composition, lighting, sound, and visual effects.
You'll learn to:
- Understand the fundamentals of movie making, including storytelling, scriptwriting, and storyboarding.
- Explore basic video production techniques, such as camera angles, lighting, and sound recording.
- Engage in hands-on activities to create short films or movie scenes using video editing software.
- Develop creative skills by crafting compelling narratives and experimenting with different visual and audio elements.
